Public certified translation is commonly known as sworn and consular translation, and is the type of translation generally required for legal documents and certificates etc. Examples of this kind of translation would be wedding certificates, articles of incorporation, legal records, powers of attorney, among others.
Prices for certified and sworn translation are set by the State Boards of Commerce (JUCESP (SP), JUCERJA (RJ), JUCEMG (MG), JUCEPAR (PR) etc.). Public certified, sworn and consular translations are charged by ‘lauda’, for the ‘version’ or ‘translation’ of personal and technical documents in any language. In public certified, sworn and consular translations, 1 lauda corresponds to 1,000 characters (without spaces). As such, the number of laudas is not necessarily equivalent to the number of pages in the document.
